Connect: WordPress
Our WordPress plugin puts your articles on your site as normal WordPress posts, in your theme, and keeps them up to date. No code, and we never need your WordPress password.
What you get
- New articles appear as published posts moments after you publish them in Blogs for SEO.
- Edits update the same post. If an article's address changes, WordPress redirects the old address to the new one.
- Unpublished articles go back to drafts.
- Title, address, excerpt, featured image, tags and category are filled in for you.
- The meta title and description work with Yoast SEO and Rank Math, or on their own. Each post gets its structured data (article, FAQs and breadcrumbs), and the SEO plugin's own copy is switched off on these posts so there's only one.
- Your site serves
/llms.txt,/blog-sitemap.xmland your IndexNow key file, and robots.txt lists the blog sitemap. - Every hour the plugin checks for anything it missed.
Connect
- Download the plugin from your dashboard's "Connect your website" page (direct link).
- In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose the zip, then Install and Activate.
- Go to Settings → Permalinks and choose Post name (or a custom structure ending in
%postname%). The plugin needs it so your posts' addresses match what search engines are told. - Go to Settings → Blogs for SEO, paste the API key from your dashboard's "Connect your website" page, and press Connect.
- Choose the author and category for new posts, and press Save.
Your published articles are imported straight away. Your dashboard then shows WordPress as connected.
Check it
- Open a post on your site: it should look like your other posts.
- In your dashboard, press Send test: the delivery list should show "Platform connector · Delivered".
- Press Run health check to confirm search engines and AI crawlers can read the post.
Make your blog visible
The posts are on your site; give visitors a way to find them: if your homepage shows your latest posts, they're already there. Otherwise set a posts page under Settings → Reading ("Your homepage displays" → A static page → Posts page), then link it from your menu: Appearance → Editor → Navigation on block themes, Appearance → Menus on classic themes.
Good to know
- Requirements: WordPress 6.0 or newer, PHP 7.4 or newer. The plugin is tested up to WordPress 7.1.
- Rank Math: finish Rank Math's setup wizard. Until then it prints no SEO tags, and our plugin prints its own.
- Caching plugins: nothing to set up. Posts change through WordPress itself, so your caching plugin refreshes them as it does for any post.
- WordPress in a subfolder (e.g.
example.com/wp/): posts work, but/llms.txtand the IndexNow key file must be at your domain's root, which the plugin can't reach from a subfolder. - Disconnecting: press Disconnect in the plugin's settings, or deactivate the plugin. Posts already on your site stay.
Stuck? We can set it up for you.
